School Readiness programs provide early education opportunities to children with priority ages birth to 5 years old, particularly children whose parents are economically disadvantaged; children who have been determined to be at risk of abuse, neglect or exploitation; and children with disabilities.Services may be provided to children up to age 13 depending on availability of funding. Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) offers all 4 and 5 year-old children a jump start on reading, math, language and social skills. Qualified VPK teachers utilize developmentally appropriate curricula to educate children, preparing them for kindergarten while inspiring their desire to learn. The program is offered free-of-charge during the school year from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM Monday through Thursday offering all children and families an equal opportunity for educational success. Unique Abilities The Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA) in Florida provides specialized funding for K-12 students with diagnosed disabilities, allowing parents to customize their child's education. Eligible students aged 3-22 can receive funds for private school tuition, therapies, specialized services, and curriculum, with average awards typically ranging from $8,000 to over $10,000, depending on the student’s disability and location.
